Yeah, so it's in the Animul after about thirty minutes of hard(rosin)core soldering (HAH, that's funny, all you soldering junkies should be laughing) the device was in the beast. 8 minutes later, I had my very first MP3 compact disc ready to go. What music you ask? Well of course it was the ass-kicking GTA Vice City Sound Track. Ripped at an astounding acoustical rate of 192kb/s. Pure joy people. I don't think I'll ever listen to the FM modulated radio again. posted by : derek

"A federal judge in Los Angeles has handed a stunning court victory to file-swapping services Streamcast Networks and Grokster, dismissing much of the record industry and movie studios' lawsuit against the two companies." In other news ... NOTD staffer's pic goes from Kenny The Webmaster's computer to print in one felt swoop. Now I plug my things. Buy my drugs. Find yourself. posted by : scott

Since my modeling career has gone downhill following my botched forehead implant surgery, I am currently taking donations to purchase a new computer. Please donate a few dollars to the help sanbourne get a computer fund. it's tax deductible, as long as you don't report your income for the year. I figure with the help of the NOTD visitors, I can purchase this bare-bones system for basic use of email and composing simple homework papers using the built in Notepad application. Please give. Give until it hurts. Then give some more. It will help heal the initial pain. posted by : scott

Smiley and I were recently discussing pain, and how much it sucks. I don't remember exactly how the discussion started, but I think it had something to do with me making toast, and Higgunz not being able to drive to Nashville by himself. Yeah. So it's like this. You're talking to someone, you of course want to look casual so you decide to lean on the counter a bit to get that "cool" look. Well of course that counter turns out to be a stove. A stove currently in ON mode. So it's hot. Very hot. "OH SHIT!, that's hot" Of course you pull your hand away with the swiftness because of the intense pain. There is where it gets confusing. That pain has done it's job. You have been alerted of the discomfort and you have reacted accordingly by removing your hand. The pain should now be shown the exit, but no, it decides to linger on for hours..days even. This is stupid, and needs to be changed. Someone research this and get back to me with a solution ASAP. posted by : smiley

A strange little story came in over the Slashdot today. Apparenly a man who was arrested for insider trading claims he is a time travel from the future and is only here to make some money. Also, anyone who's ever had a physics class knows the pain of setting through it day after day. Well today was no different from any other. However, today, another student in the class that I know decided he'd draw a picture of me. Why? Because its a long damn class, thats why. Anyway. Be advised, this drawing started as me.. didn't really finish up that way. posted by : scott

As you well know from the last post, I am a collector of all things video games. Here and now is a post about the next games coming out that you'll want to pick up if you're a videogamer too. Star Wars Galaxies - This game is several years in the making, and the waiting should pay off. In case you haven't heard, this game is strictly online. For the best effect, think Everquest, only within the Star Wars universe. As always, it's the size that counts, and for this game there are going to be at least 9 planets to explore... each the size of the entire Everquest world. Enter the Matrix - The offical video game spawned from the hugely popular movie, this one is set to blow the doors off the repective video game world. This game will be coming out for both PC and to the consoles, however, the consoles(Xbox, Gamecube, PS2) will be marketed as a "2-disc" game, but the PC version will be weighing in at 6-discs. You can expect to pay "a little more" for the PC version. ( A side note: This game is being made by Shiny Entertainment, in case you forgot, they are ones who brought you Earthworm Jim back in the day.) Soul Calibur II - The first Soul Calibur is one of the most amazing games I have ever played. That game came out for the Dreamcast a few years ago and still shows up nearly every game on any system in the graphics department. I, personally, can't wait for it's sequel. If you're a fan of fighting games, you cannot afford to miss this one. Doom 3 - Another title that is years in the making, Doom 3 is set to takeover how the videogame world views a First Person Shooter. Back in the early 90's it was Doom that opened the door for the market of all these FPS games you see today. Doom also brought another aspect that has become standard, Internet Play. Before Doom, there was no multi-player over the internet or otherwise. I can remember playing a neighbor in Doom using our 14.4k modems to call each other and playing deathmatches for hours. Wired has a great article on this game, but its currently only in print from, I'll post a link when it goes online, quote from article: "Doom III has slightly lower expectations around it than the second coming of Jesus". As you can tell, 2003 is going to be a great year for videogames... and i didn't even mention the Warcraft III expansion, Resident Evil 4, Halo 2, Advance Wars 2, the new Mario Cart, or Gran Turismo 4. Start saving lots of money now. posted by : smiley

I found this story over at Wired. Apparently a company wrote some code (Dubbed "Purring Kitty") for java enabled Nokia phones at allows the vibrate feature to be turned on and used as a "discrete, vibrating massager." Best quote from article: "The reaction has been pretty good," Walsh said. "There's a clear 50/50 split. Half the girls know immediately what it's about. The other half look at the kitty and say, 'Aw, that's cute, but why is it vibrating?' Then the penny drops." Vibelet.com : home of The Purring Kitty. This should work much better than a dreamcast controler. posted by : dave

My personal opinions on the things happening in the Iraqi capital right now are that these citizens, like birds and animals leaving their hideaways after a storm, singing and rejoicing because -- once too scared to voice out against their dictator -- are coming out of hiding for freedom. crazy sh*t posted by : scott
