Unreal Tournament 2003 goes on sale October 1st, 2002. After playing the demo for countless hours it was easy to tell that the final game was going to be awesome.
The notd.net staff got the final version a little early, and after playing for a few hours, I can confirm that it is indeed awesome. You can always tell when developers go that extra mile and jam everything they can into a game, and UT2k3 is overflowing with that. So much so that the game comes on 3 cd's, 2 of which are basically the "install" cd's, while the 3rd contains editing programs to customize the game to your liking (Build maps, make textures, and an awesome skin editing program). I'll begin work on the kenny skin just as soon as I get done with this post.
The graphics in this game are very sharp and detailed. I'm not sure how my Athlon 1.2Ghz + GeForce 2 are producing such great framerates with all the action on the screen, but hey, I'm not going to ask questions. The bots are even fun to play with, great for when your network is running sluggish and you start getting a ping that bounces from 50 to 300 (Thanks Resnet). But Unreal seems to handle the spotty internet a lot better than other online games I've played. The only other game I was really looking forward to becides this one was Star Wars Galaxies, good thing this game turned out so good, because it looks like I'm going to have to wait a while for Star Wars.

Phoenix 0.1 is out. While this is based on Mozilla, they actually do it right. There's not as much Mozilla code in use, so it does what it's supposed to. It's a whole helluva lot faster than Netscape, and even IE. But the thing I like is that it's not bloated out the ass like Netscape and IE are. My new browser of choice.
NEXT...Tom (Tank Engine) Hanks will be starring in the Coen Brothers' next flick again set in the south... it's a black comedy about a killer father (Hanks). I believe it's a remake of a 50s something or other.
FINAL...there will be a live performance of Jacko's Thriller including live real zombies (honest to goodness zombies!) here in Lexington the night before Halloween. Better than the same Picture Show over and over and over...

Here's what I've discovered after actually having a TV in my dorm room this fall. The History Channel is home to one of the most addictive sets of programming that has ever been assembled.
Firstly "Mail Call" will grab your attention for however long its on. Right now there is a "Mail Call" marathon, so I'm not really up for going anywhere. To see the host of the show's (R. Lee Ermey) own website click here. I've even sent in a question or two.
Also, they have great write-up's about just anyone you could think of, including JFK. Not only can you read about influential people in history, but (if they lived recently enough) you can hear them make speeches. Hey, what happend on your birthday in history? Great website, great TV channel.

Insight can suck rancid tuna salad out of my ass.
If anyone has been to Louisville and watched tv for 5 minutes, you know what I'm talking about. Insight Digital is the cable monopoly here. That's all we've got and I don't understand why. Commercials on *every* cable channel *for* Insight Digital every five minutes, it's enough to make you puke. Not to mention that Terry Meiners and Bob Sokola are their spokespeople, the two most putrid punks you have ever laid your eyes on.
Now, every day, cable is out *somewhere* in Louisville. Not a day goes by without an area of town having an outage. This is also the case with Cable Modems. Fucking A. For a week now, I've been without Internet in my house. A fucking week. and I can't check email or post on any websites at work because mr. Jim Heines had to show up and be all "oh... we can't do that, it's against company policy" blah blah. motherfucker. If I could get high speed access from another company, I would, not because they would be better, but just to spite Insight. If you ever have a problem with the "Home of the On-Time Guarantee" You spend an hour on hold, then another hour trying to explain to the gay ass motherfucker on the other end of the line what your problem is as if it's your job to fix it, and when you finally do schedule an appointment to get it fixed, fat chance it will happen. I understand this is true of *all* cable companies, but the fact that they offer you 25 dollars of credit everytime someone doesn't show up should be some motivation for their getting their heads out of their asses. SO we haven't paid for cable or internet access since we've moved in here because, guess what? we keep getting so many damn credits. Not that we *should* be paying because it's not like we even have access to the web or are able to view the tv for any length of time more than 10 minutes... Fucking a. Point being, do yourself a favor and *don't* move to Louisville.
On top of this, all day the power was out here. Fucking Boring. And Alex won't go buy a new power supply so she can run the network either. What a crock of shit.

Well, while visiting Dave's latest project, I was shocked to find that cherrysugar does not render correctly in Mozilla, which means it is not HTML 4.01 compliant. I emailed the appropriate authroities of the web site and was thanked for my concern while being informed that they didn't care. It's websites like this that make the web an evil place, full of bad spiders...
So, until CherrySugar supports Mozilla (that's Netscape too ya know), I'm boycotting.
If you're curious why I made the switch, check out kolonay.com for the details.
(yes, I'm aware that I'm not fully compliant yet either, but at least my page renders in browsers other than MSIE)

Well, in case you all haven't noticed, I've been very, very busy of late. What with us being shorthanded at the Courier and whatnot, but we have since hired a new guy. He's an ex-gunnerman for the Navy from Vietnam, an ex-priest, attended school in Belgium, knows approximately 6 languages and has met the Pope.
In case you didn't know, Cherry Sugar is back up in a new format. I suggest everyone go check it out.
I bought a flask the other day. That's right, a flask. I'm cool as hell.
Everyone must now start to wear fall clothing. Seriously, I started wearing sweatshirts, toboggans, and jeans and drinking hot chocolate outside and smoking a pipe in an effort to make the weather become fall. It has since bent slightly to my will. In a matter of two days, we went from 85 degree weather, to 55 degree weather... I'd say that the Gods have heard my call and heeded my will.
Sanbourne is God Like.
Kenny is my bitch.
I can't decide where exactly I'm going to go to college next year... UK looked good for a while, but WKU has an awesome Journalism school right now... Looks like we'll have to have a fight: Kenny and Smiley vs. Derek, Kolonay and Emily for total domination and control over my soul. blah.

I thought. ABout 5 minutes later, when the commercial break came on, what I thought was a joke promo wasn't...This is THE Howard, 96.1 FM. All Howard, All the time. What a brilliant idea!! I would never in a million years think a station like this would be on the air in Lexington of all places. New York, L.A., Miami, understandable, but not Lexington. I'm stoked.

That's right. Today Smiley and I came across a plethera of computing machines. Now mind you, these machines have quite a combined processing power. In fact, if you were to add the speeds of all the processors together, I'm quite confidient you would have a number around the 200 mHz region. Yes. We got some old ass stuff here folks.
Currently, four computers reside in the back seat of my car, along with a keyboard or two, and not to mention a Laser Printer. Here are a few shots of the items:

Some other items are located in the trunkal region of the vechical as well. In these shots you can see a Packard Bell monitor, as well as....yes, you're eyes don't decieve you...a Xerox copy machine. Now, it is true that the copier is not currenlty working, but it will be soon...I think. If you'll look closely, you can also see my super ghetto installed amplifier. Yes, wires everywhere in my trunk. It's fun.

ZIP TIES!!!!!!!!1

| So i've basically become obsessed with using zip ties on the many cords and cables involved in my computer setup. i recently bought a bag of 100 neon yellow zip ties at Fry's Electronics for the low low price of $2.99. (what a steal!) Confident in my purchase, I thus began to coil and fasten almost any cable I could get my hands on, granted that it had slack to coil of course! Hyuk!
To show my appreciation to zip ties, I present a small idol or point of worship for the plasticy zipping goodness that is (are?)... ZIP TIES
I have fastened the following: - Cell phone wall charger
- Printer USB Cable
- Printer Power Cable
- KVM Switch Power Cable
- Ethernet cable
- Power Strip power cable
- And Much Much More!
Here are some ZIP TIE related links:

Well, November will see the launch of what is likely to become the most successful PC game in the history of PC games.
The Sims: Online
There's only a few problems I have with this.
The game is going to cost $50 when it comes out. Sure, this is par for the course these days...
...except...
WHEN YOU HAVE TO PAY $10-$15 A MONTH TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THE DAMN GAME! which is also fine...
...except...
WHEN YOU HAVE TO PAY $50 TO BUY THE DAMN GAME.... etc, etc, etc...
To top that all off, THIS tells us that the Sims:Online will contain in game advertising from McDonalds and Intel that they paid a FORTUNE for. See, I would think that this advertising, much like in the network TV model, would pay for the medium of play, which is in this case the Internet. I guess I'm wrong though... Oh well, as a future economist, I must admire their capitalistic deftness, however, that doesn't mean I have to like it....
