Yeah,
so I'm back...from the dead...well work anyways...the
joys of midnight shift. Ah, yes, for those of you
who have never been in an aluminum rolling plant..which
I'll assume is none of you...or maybe two of you,
but no more..anyway, basically what happens is you
take a sheet of aluminum and run it through the
mill that has two metal rolls that basically squeeze
the metal as it goes between them making it thinner...not
just thin, but really thin, like .0108 inches, sometimes
even .0085, well if a problem occours..and the metal
splits, or in any way has friction on the rolls,
there can be sparks. Oh I suppose I failed to mention
that while all this is happening a kerosene based
coolent is being sprayed on the rolls and metal...
Yes so spark + kerosene = ...yes that's correct.
fire. well usually carbon dioxide..(cardox) is released
and the fire...if there is one is put out almost
immedaitely, well there was some sort of malfunction
saturday night and the cardox dump button was being
pressed repetadly, but nothing happened...I saw
the biggest fire I've ever seen...well at least
that I was ten feet away from..and it burned for
nearly fifteen seconds before the cardox finally
dumped, and when it did..it dumped a lot. Yes, so
I saw a really really big and hot fire. What did
you do? yeah, shut up punks.

back to my post. I can't give the same enthusiasm
Kenny does about Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,
but it was a pretty good movie nonetheless. I ended
up watching twice, once with the dialogue dubbed
in English, and once with the English subtitles.
I would like the soundtrack though, oriental background
music, and I am going to play it as I eat Chinese

The
new D12 CD "Devil's Night" sounds to be nothing
short of incredible (I had wondered what Eminem

release date, and I will definitely be there first
thing to pick it up. I've heard most of it (okay
all of it) and it's freaking great. It's one of
those CD's that you have to just buy, damn straight,
plain & simple. Speaking of musak, the new Air CD
that I got at Tower Records the other day. It's
gota couple of tracks with Beck, who is on every
CD that is being released in all music genres from
now until 2008. It's not quite like Moon Safari,
it's more modern, it's wild, I liked Virgin Suicides
ST better anyway. There's one track called "Wonder
Milky Bitch" it's okay, I just wanted to say "Wonder
Milky Bitch" because I had never said "Wonder Milky

Do
we all know what today's date is? Yes, if you said
Tuesday, June 5th, 2001...or at least knew that
it was the fifth of some month, you're smarter than
most of the people that work at the Russellville
Wal-Mart. For at least two weeks now there has been
this little cardboard advertisement on the checkout
counter in the electronics department at walmart
telling that the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon DVD
goes on sale 6/5/01 (today) So I got in my car around
1:15PM today and drove on over. I enter the electronics
department and head to the DVD case since I didnt'
see any large displays holding the CTHD DVD. I scaned
it, and found not what I was looking for, so I went
up the the counter and asked the girl working there,
she said they never brought it up, or they never
got the shipment. Apparently there are people in
the back that bring them up and have to put them
in the computer but they hadn't done it yet, and
she had been there since 7AM. I decided not to put
up an arguement, and left. She told me to come back
tomorrow, but instead Brad is gonna pick it up for
me in Bowling Green today, which is good, because
I don't want to give them the money for a late product...who

I'm

I'm neither, but I do have a web site that I do

truly witnessed the "wind" tonight, and I have to
say, it was "real and spectacular." Kenneth had
a soda can whisked from his hands in the storm's

Since
today is today, and yesterday was yesterday (wherever

sudden, ecliptic event that occured yesterday (and
in the timeline of NOTD, the post before Ken-man's
last post). (dammit ICQ messages keep popping up
and I can't write) STORY: Under the careful guiding
hand of Kenny's How-to-get-to-Ashley's-House instructions,
Smiley and I were attempting to find a "party" north
of town. Somehow, we ended up in Auburn. From Chandler's
to Auburn in a matter of seconds (whether it was
a wormhole as Smiley suggested or not is a moot
point, this was insane)...anyway, since we were
already in Auburn and obviously were no where near
a "party" or "shindig" as the elders call it, we
decided to go ahead to Bowling Green. Smiley-got-Traffic-and-The-Rock-DVD-and-White-Castle-fries,

Logan Aluminum is in Logan County. So I hear this
message over the intercom that a warning had just
been issued and that we're not shutting down, but
to monitor channel one. OK, so Mike switched to
channel one, and we kept working. I love this, amazing
dedication to the beverage can industry we have
going on. I swear a damn tornado could tear apart
the south end of the plant and just pick up CM3,
and I'd be getting pulled in, and my gloves would
fall off, and Mike would be yelling over the page..."Ken...Stick

the aluminum with my hand...it would bleed, I'd
use my mouth to reset the dancer roll, It would
be amazing...but those damn olive tree people would

I've
only worked two days this week and it already feels

not wednesday and all, but I haven't even gone in
to work yet today. I'm on the evening shifts..which
are nice because they fit into my normal sleeping
pattern, bed at 2 or 3 wake up at 11 or 12, however,
most of the time i'm awake, i'm at work, so I hardly
see anyone. Tonite, however there is a "jewish
party" meaning a party at dustin selitchnick's
house. It starts at like 8 or something, but he
told me to come by whenever I get home and see if
it's still goin on. So I think I might just do that.
Now that Smiley is officially out of high school,
he should be working more, which means more work
journals, I know you've all been missing them...I
know I have. He should also be finishing that story
from our trip to bowling green a couple weeks ago...if
he wants his grad present he'll do it I garuntee
it.
HIGHFRUCTOSE
is currently down for a redesign, however NOTD.NET
was listed as a good alternative, for that I give

should point to an active, and utterly amazing page
within the next few days.

Last
night, Smiley, Derek, and I played some basketball...whatelse
is new, then we went to Sonic, then to Smiley's
house, then back to my house to watch SNL...which
we didnt' watch since my sister was watching Finding
Forester. Well Smiley went to Krystas and said he'd
be back in 15 minutes...well since I am expirenced
in telling Smiley-Krysta-Time, I knew this translated
to no less than 30 regular minutes. Well finally
about 40 minutes after he left, he returned and
we decided to go look for infamous Ghost Train,
we drove down the road and saw no train, so when
we got to the end we turned around and drove back,
once again...no train. Then we decided to drive
into Adairville to look for a certain item, and
on the way this car pulls out of a side road, without
even slowing down, and I had to swerve into the
other lane, and slam on the brakes...Some people
just shouldn't be allowed...I mean blatent disreguard
for stop signs, not to mention not even looking
left and right to see my headlights...I would do
that even if there wasn't a stop sign. Well once
we had located the item, and confirmed it's existance,
we began the return trip to Russellville...being
sure to spot our skid marks from the near catastrophe
earlier. When we got back to da ville, we went to
Hardee's and then back to my house to watch the
old old SNL rerun, we watched about an hour of it,
and then they both left, and that was that.

I
just got back from Nashville about 20 minutes ago.
I went with Smiley, Krysta, and Derek to see Pearl
Harbor on the IMAX screen. As we all know the IMAX
can make almost any movie amazing, except maybe
The Wizard of Oz...God I hate that movie. Anyway,
Pearl Harbor was quite good, enough bombing and
fire to keep me occupied through the romantic scenes.
No really, it was a much better three hours than
Titanic was. It went fast, but could actually have
been a 2-2.5 hour movie. They could have stopped
after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, but of course
we are America, and we have to win everything, except
bull fighting maybe...that's just dumb; but they
continue the movie with the US bombing Japan, not
atomic bombs..just bombs. In my over-all opinion
it was a good movie, worth the 6-7 bucks you'll
spend to see it, just make sure you piss before
it starts, and don't clap during the movie. I hate
that too. People that clap or shout during movies...laughing
is ok, because I do it. but no clapping or "woo
hoo" please. Well now that I'm home and I need
entertainment I am of course watching CMT,..the
only channel playing music at this hour. Hmm...lets
see, yes, I got some pictures with Derek's digital
camera from last week, that one up there is Smiley,
with a neat looking Zaxby's sign and a cop driving

I'm home. Actually I got home yesterday, but by
the time I got my computer back from smiley and
got it all functioning again I had other stuff to
do, and had to get to bed because I had to work
this morning at 7:00AM It was a pretty good day
overall, and only three more days. A few interesting
things happend while I was on my trip...but nothing
worthy of picture taking...figures...I had it, but
didnt' use it. First of all I'd like to discuss
New Jersey roads. They suck so much. Bad design,
bad layout, bad/no markings. I dont' know how people
there can get around. Signs in stupid places, weird
things to turn left... Stoplights and Exits on the
same highway-not supposed to happen. I just don't
know what to say. They're awful. Then they go and
charge you a toll on every damn road you get on.
anywhere from 25 cents to 3 dollars. what the hell
are they using all this money for? I'll tell you
one thing they arent' using it for...road improvements.
Another thing New Jersey doesn't have cities and
towns, they have "borros" and "townships"
What is that? is it 1709 there? Really. Speaking
of borros, the Borro of Elmer is celebrating it's
Greek festival this coming weekend, try to attend.
The
next big thing I'm going to discuss involes the
plane trip. On the way home our flight was delayed
about 45 minutes due to weather. Once we got in
the air the pilot informed us that he would try
to "make up some time in the air" What?
Make up some time? I thought air travel was so popular
because it was so fast. Planes have a speed limit?
Why they hell don't they always "make up time"
I mean if a one hour trip can be made in 50 minutes...why
the hell even make it take an hour? Why not just
do it in 50 minutes all the time? It would seem
that if they could shave 10-20 minutes off of ever
flight, they could possilbe add more flights, making
more money...and I know those big airlines like
money.

In
less than ten hours, I will be at cruising altitude
somewhere between the Nashville airport and the

plane. Ohh. Smiley and I went to Bowling Green again
last night, but not much happened. We even made
sure to take his truck since that's what we were
in the last time all the amazing things happend.
We went armed with Derek's Sister's digital camera
too. Nothing. Nothing at all happened. So I had
my sunglasses with me, but now they seem to have
disappeared, they're probably lost in the sea of
CD's in his truck, or in my room somewhere...both
places are pretty messy. So back to the camera.
I have the camera and the USB cable, however, derek
didnt' have the cd. So I had to download the drivers,
but they're not exactly working...which sucks. I'll
figure it out I suppose. I had to mow the lawn today...that
was a nice thing about college...someone else mowed
the grass. But my dad did pay me to do it, so that's
good. I won't get my first pay check until tuesday,
I would usually get it tomorrow, but of course I
won't be here. Not that I'll get much money out
of that first check anyway. I owe my parents about
seventy bucks for that speeding ticket I got at
Easter. They paid it for me then since I didnt'
have the money at that time. Of course Smiley technically
owes me about 50 bucks...hmmm...but it's coming
out of the CD player whenever he gets his new SUV...if
he gets it. We're going to a radiohead concert in
August, His parents dont' have a problem with it,
and my mom seems ok with it. We'll either go to
the one in Washington DC, or the next one in Boston.
We'd drive, so I'm leaning towards DC, since it's
seven hours closer. But we're both off work, and
it's about a week before we start school, so either
one should be ok. I may let Smiley borrow my computer
over the weekend while I'm gone so he can play unreal
tourny. THis would also give him the power to update

Talk
about an eventful night, Kenny and I just got back
from Bowling Green. Amazing the amount of things that
happend in a mere hour. First up we went into the
Barnes & Noble to pick up some books (you know we're
all about some readin) and we see this rack of books
with a sign over it saying "Staff Recommended", later
on we're in the movie section of the store, Kenny
finds the Dogma screenplay and proceeds to place it
in the "Staff Recommended" section, not only did he
place it there, but he managed to actually make a
little "recommended by" card that went on the edge
of the shelf along with all the other "Staff Recommended"
books. Ok, so you're looking at the "Staff Recommended"
section, yeah, everything is going normal when WHAM,
you see an obviously homemade "Recommended By" tag
with Kenny scraled on it, pointing to the Dogma screenplay.
Later on that night (after seeing a good deal of people
we knew in the mall) we decided it was time for some
White Castle fries (a wo rthy snack after any excursion).
I had a general idea of where the Bowling Green location
was, even though Kenny was seemingly doubtful that
i could find it. So we're waiting at a red light and
Kenny bursts out "Apparently I'm getting stared at"
So I'm like, What? Lo and behold there was some girl
just glaring at kenny (him being on the passenger
side of my truck). After the standard "Two glance
rule" Kenny proceeds to roll down the window. Not
only does the obvious starring continue, but she rarely
looked at the road and when she did Kenny made sure
to remind her not to look but at him. After another
stop light (where we had gotten a few cars ahead of
them) I decided i was asking just where the White
Castle was. So, I let them catch back up and yelled
at them, demanding to know where the white castle
was. Well, it was no less than a block away on my
right. So I looked like a total ass. They followed
us into the White Castle, apparently wanting to talk
more. I just wanted food so I continued on to the
drive threw window ordering station. They must have
gotten mad or something, then honked and drove away.
Oh well, i got my steamy hot fries. Now you may be
thinking what else could have happened, oh there's
plenty, believe me. So much in fact, that this post
sadly ends with a "to be continued..."

My
first day of work was a success, I survived, and
I'm learning my new job pretty well. It's so much
better than last year. Once I start a coil and get
the ones on the measure and load station in the
computer, I get to sit there for about 15 minutes
and do basically nothing...so yes, it's good...Of
course if there's a fire or explosion..I'm right
in the front of the mill...hmm... Yes anyway, my
parents and sister are currently in Lexington for
the state foreign lanugage festival, and they left
while I was sleeping today. When I woke up and looked
at my computer screen it was coverd in papers that
were taped all over it. Upon futher inspection I
discoverd that one of these papers was an envelope
containing ten dollars. Money, yess.
Yesterday
there was some basketball action goin on at my house,
for about the 10th day in a row or so. Brad introduced
us to a new game called "Cheese Dip Tips"
basically a person shoots five free throws, if they
make all five, everyone else owes them a cheese
dip, if they get tipped, the shooter owes the person
who tipped them a cheese dip. The game ends as soon
as one person has accumulated ten cheese dips. If
you tip a person that you owe cheese dips to, you
then owe them one less. Brad was the winner, and
of his ten "cd's" I think i owe him about
six. Yes, apparently cheese dip tips is not my forte.
For all of you uneducated peoples out there, the
cheese dip I speak of is from the local mexican
resturant, it is the greatest cheese dip in the
world and therefore costs about 2.50 per bowl....small
bowl. It is well worth it however. That does not
mean I'm spending 15 bucks on cheese for brad. At
least not all at once like he wants. I think he
would die if he at ten cheese dips all at once...

it by myself tomorrow if I had to.
I
discoverd that Star Trek TNG comes on fox at 4:00AM
here. That'll give me something to do at that hour.
Now, that it's after 5 I've resorted to CMT, who
plays nothng but videos this time of day, and surprisingly
they're not bad. Yes, I'll listen to country if
I have to. I never listen to it in my car, but on
TV sometimes I dont' have much of a choice. Plus
I like the fact that I can watch and listen, and
since MTV doesnt' play music, and I don't get CTN
at home. This is what I have.
ONe
last thing, Since NOTD has changed hosts, We now
have a limited number of Pop3 email accounts available,
and unlimited email forwards. If you'd be interested
in having your very own @notd.net email address
let me or Smiley know and we'll see if we can get
somethin set up for you. We also have a few auto-responders,
so If anyone has any ideas for funny auto-responses
and how we could integrate them into the site let
me know about that also.

Well,
my summer vacation ends today. I start working tomorrow.
It's been rumored that the Summer Students at Logan
Aluminum are making 8.00/hour this year, last year
we made 7.50/hr, either way it's fine with me, but
it would be nice to make 8. I went to Bowling Green
today with Derek, we went to the mall, I had exchange
a shirt, and Derek, well he had to get his mom some
silverwear for mothers day. We went to o'charlies
after all the various shoppings were completed.
We also drove around for about half an hour looking
for a radio station. Derek's worked for several
and someone called him a couple weeks ago asking
if he wanted to work at Woo Hoo. He didn't know
what the guy was talking about. Apparently the "Gator
G-107.1" recently became the "Woo Hoo"
We dont' know when, but it's here, and it's not
going away. Ever. Well maybe sometime. No, never.
Oh yeah, he got a CD too, HI-Tek something like
that, it's better than we anticipated. Also be sure
to check out the top 5 referrers rite over there
--> with all the traffic they send us, we'd like
to return the favor. One last thing, thanks to Timmothy
for today's quote.

Well
well, I just happen to have some news about the David
Copperfield show in nashville. Any of you that attended,
like I recommended, you would have seen me up on stage
helping with one of the illusions. Yes, that was me
talking to Whoopie Goldburg, the guy in the orange
shirt. I must say, not only was the show execellent,
but the added bonus of getting to go on stage to help
put it over the edge. T-shirt update: The strike has
been resolved and production is back in full swing.
They're actually in their final stages of production,
a photo with a (female) model will be posted soon.
Today I'm setting out to put an amp in my car. I already
have a Kenwood KDC-9011 cd receiver along with 2 MTX
10" subs. I need the amp to give me just a lil more
power. Also, I will be most likely selling said cd
receiver to kenny, if anyone knows anything about
them please give me a price quote, note that the cd
receiver is the most expensive you can get without
getting an Exlon. It has also been kept in good condition.
I will keep everyone posted about the situation.

Cox Actress, Friends May 5th, 2001 on who would
win the Kentucky Derby.
|
Courtney
Cox was wrong. The Kentucky derby was won by Monarchos
with a time of 1:59 4/5. That's the second fastest
derby winner in history. Speaking of Courtney Cox,
who in the world has friends named Balto? Even if
I knew people named Balto, I don't think I would
admit to it. The only Balto I can think of is that
dog from the cartoon that Derek reminded me of.
In
a completely unrelated story, I washed my car today,
for the first time, in...umm...well, quite a while.
I found out it's silver. I thought it was dark grey.
My ankle is improving greatly, I can walk..and I
can obviously wash a car. Now that my first weekend
in Russellville has come, I realize why Louisville
= good. There is not too much to do here, and everyone
that I would usually do something with is out. Smiley
is out with Krysta, her parents took them out I
think. It's assumed that Brad is currently in Etown
to see Vicky. Derek is working. So that leaves me
here doing nothing. It almost makes me want to start
working, at least then I'll have something to do.
So in lue of doing something out, I'm watching Happy
Gillmore. This is a great movie. Adam Sandler is
such a great guy. No, not like that.

I
survived the big mexian party last night...barely.
After spending over an hour at the teca...which
included things such as three person water baloon
launchers, ten foot tall basketball players, broken
car doors, and brass bonanza; ten people came over
to my house to play basketball. Then after about
an hour had gone by, and three people had left,
we were playing 3-4, and at somepoint in time, the
ball was passed to john, and i went in to steal
the pass, and we ended up on the ground, I don't
really remember...but apparently he fell, and as
I fell I walked on him, and that's how I twisted
my ankle. I just sat on the ground for the final
20-30 minutes of basketball action which had dwindled
to a game of tips. So I made it inside...barely,
and put ice on it, and more ice...then went to bed,
when I woke up, I could hardly walk. not even across
my room to my computer. So I took some asprin, and
put an ace bandage on my foot, and I'm trying to
move my ankle to help in the recovery. Hopefully
I'll be back to normal...or close to normal by the
time I start work next wednesday.

If
you're reading this, it's possible you're seeing
it via the new host, and it's also possible you're
seeing it via the old host. Right at the moment
http://www.notd.net still points to the old host.
However, http://notd.net points to the new host.
The www should be changing soon, but I'm going to
put a redirect page up on the old host so that it
will point here, and then when the www works it
won't matter anyway. OK so for anyone looking for
hosting, I suggest you pay for it. I should have
known that free hosting was too good to be true.
Do not go to www.portland.co.uk ever. Ever. That's
why I'm not linking it. Don't go there...
In
other less important news, my first year of college
is officially over. I got home yesterday around
2:00PM, around 4...maybe 5 smiley came over then
we went to his house, and I got a quick tour of
WindowsXP, we watched a movie and ate dinner. He's
supposed to write a post today...but really, who
knows. I think that I've spent more time away from
my house than I have in the house since I've been
here. Oh well. Yes, also today is Brad's Birthday,
so we're goin to sol aztec the local mexican resturant
tonite. Apparently the entire city of Russellville
has been invited, so it maybe crowded. I also got
a haircut today...for those of you who like that
sort of thing.

As
you may or may not know, NOTD has expirenced problems
in the past with it's host. Well the time has come
for a change. I've been considering it for some time
now, and then I read a report about our current host
last night, and finally decided it was time. So at
somepoint within the next few days the site will be
down, and then back up with a different host, that
has a much much better reputation. Also, expect Smiley's
post-Copperfield post either just before the down-time,
or right after. Thanks for all your cooperation. During
these times of change.

Two down, one to go. Only one more final, and my first
year of college is over. It went too fast. However,
if only it could have gone a little faster. Smiley
and Krysta went to the David Copperfield show last
night. I'll just let him tell you about what happend
there. I almost didnt' believe it. In other news.
I went to a computer show with Jeff yesterday because
he wanted some RAM 128Meg of PC 133 to be exact. Well
he got it, and we came back to the dorm and put it
in his computer, and discoverd it was only 64meg.
I took it out and discoverd that not only was it 64
not 128, it had a sticker on it that said 256, so
I didnt' know what to belive. We went back to the
show, and I went back in with the RAM and recipt just
as the show was ending, and confronted the guy who
sold it to us. He gave me a stick of another brand
that had a PC133 128Meg sticker on it. We once again
returned to UofL and found it to actually be 128..good
since the show had closed by this time.

Ahh,
sure feels good to be back. Its not like I've been
in Prague or anything, just haven't updated latley.
I've been pretty busy, well sortta. Ok,I'm lazy. you
knew that. Anyway, on with the news. First off, I
am now running Windows
XP Its pretty nice. Much faster. Has microsoft
finally decided to make decent OS's from now on? I
hope so. Also, I did attend that Thunder over Louisville,
now that was amazing. Speaking of, I will be also
attending the David Copperfield show this sunday in
nashville. T-Shirt production has been slowed a bit
because of a strike in our North Korea factory. Apparently
we just aren't giving enough benifits. Who knew? Another
startling development: I believe I am developing Insomina.
No kidding, I can't sleep anymore. Either my body
is prepairing me for college or something is really,
really wrong. I think i'll start a fight club today.
The new Our Lady Peace cd, entitled "Spirital Machines",
is turning out to be really good. Alomst as good as
their awesome 1997 (I think) "Clumbsy" album. Check
em out.

UofL has apparently hired a few idiots. I sent an
email yesterday to tell them I would be leaving on
May 2nd and to cancel my Internet service plan at
the end of April so I wouldn't get charged any for
may. This is the email I sent:
To
whom it may concern,
I'm
writing to find out what steps need to be taken to
cancel my remote access account
at the end of April 2001. I will be
moving off campus and will no longer need the service.
If this email is enough to inform you that I wish
to close my account please let me know. If there are
any forms that I need to fill out, electronic or otherwise,
please let me know as soon as possilbe.
Thanks for your help,
Kenny Fyhr
This was the response I got later that same day. When
I read it something didn't seem quite rite, but I
decided to let it slide.
Thank
you for using UofL.net Remote Access. Per your request,
I have cancelled your account.
Thanks,
Lisa
UofL.Net Customer Service Representative
Then
this morning at about 4:00AM I attemped to log on
to the internet through UofL. My username and/or password
was invalid. I knew something like that would happen.
Luckly I had this free CD that gives me like 12 hours
of free Internet a month...yes not much, but I can
survive on that until wednesday. Anyway, as a result
of this fiasco NOTD would like to name Lisa the
